He's looked up to Mueller ever since he first met him. He had lost his mother early during a siege on his home town. His father, then driven mad with paranoia and contempt for "the enemy", continuously made him train in sword fighting until Mueller came along and killed him. He took up the sword and trained hard and followed under Mueller's orders as a member of the Lindwurm Mercenary Brigade. Richard goes by the name of "Blademaster," but he's so laid-back and easygoing, no one would know he's a serious fighter.
He's completely oblivious of his strikingly good looks and the attraction it brings to women, girls (and occasional men) around him. He's never had a girlfriend due to the fact that training takes up the majority of his time. His obsession with becoming a great swordsman keeps his head away from... "other activities". After spending all his time training and fighting; he's pretty hopeless when it comes to social meetings and group gatherings.

He's the best of the best when it comes to the sword --
they even call him the "Blademaster." But he's so easygoing,
you'd never know it.
#2: They say he joined the Sacred Games because Mueller told him to,
as a joke. Belcoot says he's not sure he could've won if he he'd
had to face Richard.
#3: No matter how many times I ask him, he won't tell me why he's so
crazy about Mueller, or how it all got started. Anything else,
he'll blab about forever, but he just won't talk about Mueller.
